Anddie Chan-Patera, MIA'18, is a Principal and Co-Founder of A SQUARE DESIGN (ASD), an interior design firm based in Boston, MA. The firm, which is certified as a Minority and Woman Business Enterprise (MBE and WBE), offers comprehensive interior design services and project management. ASD’s projects include multifamily housing, retail and commercial spaces, and private residences.

The firm has gained recognition for its work: one of its projects, Cote Village and Cote Village Townhomes, received a 2022 National Award for Best Multifamily Housing Project. This transit-oriented development project brought 76 mixed-income units to the Mattapan neighborhood.

In addition to her work at A SQUARE DESIGN, Anddie has also contributed to the field of interior design through teaching, mentoring, and community services. Anddie served as a member of the BAC Alumni Advisory Council from 2020 to 2023. Her firm provided pro-bono design services for Tommy’s Place, a Massachusetts based nonprofit corporation that provides year-round vacations to kids fighting cancer. She currently serves as a commissioner on the Back Bay Architectural Commission.

Before transitioning to the field of design, Anddie held various administrator roles at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She was one of the founding Directors for the Singapore-MIT Alliance, overseeing administrative matters and managing the Center’s finance and operations. Anddie also worked at the Office of Corporate Relations and played a key role in establishing technology partnerships between MIT and businesses in Asia. Anddie’s earlier career was in banking, technology, and marketing.

Anddie holds a Master’s of Interior Architecture from the Boston Architectural College. She received her Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Massachusetts. Anddie was the Founder of the Asian Center at UMASS/BOSTON and played a major role in establishing the Asian American Studies Program.

In her free time, Anddie enjoys cooking, walking, traveling, porcelain painting, classical singing, and attending opera and classical/jazz music events. Anddie supports and participates in many non-profit organizations, including the Chinese Progressive Association and Cradles to Crayons, and she also serves as a mentor for Bottom Line. She is fluent in Cantonese Chinese, and has a working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese and French.
