The Boston Architectural is pleased to announce that the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) has granted six-year accreditation to the BAC's Bachelor of Architecture (BArch), Master of Architecture (MArch), and low-residency completion Master of Architecture (DMArch) Programs.

NAAB, the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. professional degree programs in architecture, grants 6-year, 3-year, and 2-year terms of accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established educational standards.

BAC President Ted Landsmark comments, "As the BAC stands at the forefront of practice-based design education, our status as a fully-accredited professional college reflects the rigor we apply toward assessing how well our graduates are achieving important learning outcomes through diverse and innovative approaches to teaching. We continue to refine and advance our distinctive approaches to pragmatic, cross-disciplinary, socially-conscious, and global design learning and public service, and we are appreciative of NAAB's assessment of our strengths and evolving approaches to continuously improving professional design education. I extend my thanks to the dedicated faculty, practitioners, staff and students whose shared work demonstrates the value of our model of practice-based design learning."

The NAAB mission is to develop and maintain a system of accreditation in professional architecture education that is responsive to the needs of society and allows institutions with varying resources and circumstances to evolve according to their individual needs. The accreditation process is intended to verify that each accredited program substantially meets standards that comprise an appropriate education for an architect. The curriculum standards ensure that graduates will be technically competent, critical thinkers who are capable of defining multiple career paths within a changing societal context.
