AIAS BAC Chapter

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS (AIAS)

The BAC is one of more than 125 schools of architecture to maintain a local chapter of AIAS, an independent and non-profit student-run organization. This grassroots association is a cooperative between thousands of students committed to helping each other. Membership provides an immeasurable amount of diverse opportunities. It provides a sense of community and a forum to share differing views. Lectures, field trips, social and networking events, community service projects, and conferences are some of the activities organized by the chapters. Local AIAS officers are elected at the end of the school year, and membership is open to all architecture students.

AIAS Mission:
• To promote excellence in architecture education, training, and practice.
• To foster an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines.
• To enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration.
• To organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture.

Freedom by Design (FBD) is an AIAS program that services the community by utilizing talents of architecture students to radically impact the lives of people in their community through modest design and construction solutions. FBD makes vital modifications that enhance the homes of low-income elderly and disabled individuals by improving the safety, comfort, and dignity of the home's occupants.
