Visual Resources Library

The BAC Visual Resources Library is located at 320 Newbury Street on the fifth floor, Room 511. It is open to faculty and students for use in classroom instruction, distance education, and research.

We have a digital image collection with approximately 1,100 images (the collection is being developed on an ongoing basis and new images are added each semester) available online related to our core curriculum such as Architecture and Design History, Design Principles, and Freehand Drawing. Images are available for architecture, architectural plans, paintings, drawings, furniture, and sculpture. These images can be downloaded for educational use by the BAC community. Preview the collection at http://research.the-bac.edu/imagecoll/ Use your BAC webID to login and enter the database. We also have approximately 1,000 digital images related to interior design which are not online but are available through the Visual Resources Library office (call 617.585.0257 for further information).

In addition, we have a 35mm slide collection which contains approximately 40,000 slides in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, fine arts, interior design and other related areas. Borrowing privileges are granted after you have received an orientation given by the Visual Resources Librarian.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions link for further information about the use of images from both our digital and slide collections.

Faculty members interested in discussing how the collection can best serve their needs should contact the Visual Resources Librarian by e-mail at sheri.rosenzweig@the-bac.edu or by telephone at 617.585.0257.
