The design problem for the Lyceum competition was to “re-conceive the house on wheels”. The proposal is an artistic comment inspired by the observed negative impact that “ruthless capitalism” has on the built environment. If the manufacturers and distributors of today’s mobile homes cared a bit more about the user’s experience, than they did about accumulating wealth, they could make quite a difference in thousands of peoples living environments. This proposal suggests that by using found objects (trash), design thinking, and good craftsmanship, one could create a living environment that would be much more accommodating.
