Special And Non-Traditional Giving Opportunities

Philanthropic gifts greatly assist the BAC in meeting current costs and facing future challenges.

There are many ways to participate:

  • Cash
Cash gifts are the simplest, most immediate and effective way to contribute to the BAC. Donations may be made outright, or pledged over a period of time. Gifts can also be made using your (MasterCard, VISA or American Express) credit card. If you itemize your taxes, the full amount may qualify for a charitable tax deduction.
  • Bequests
For many individuals, a gift made through a will or trust is a realistic way to make a substantial contribution to the BAC. These gifts are valued as a commitment by donors who share the BAC's vision for the future. Your attorney, financial advisor or the BAC's Development Office, can assist you with terminology needed to establish your bequest. Please call 617-585-0284 for more information.
  • Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities can be advantageously donated directly to The Boston Architectural College (rather than selling them and donating the proceeds). If you own appreciated securities, you can claim the full market value of the donated shares as a charitable deduction on your income tax. Consult your tax advisor for more information regarding gifts of appreciated securities. For information on how to transfer stocks to benefit the BAC, please call 617-585-0284.
  • Matching Gifts
Matching gifts can double, or even triple, your gift to the Boston Architectural College. Simply complete and submit your employer's matching gift form and include with your donation. Matching gifts are credited to your personal giving history for recogniton club qualification. Oftentimes, employers will also match gifts from retirees and spouses as well. Please check here "Matching Gifts Information" to learn about your company's benefit, or contact the Manager of the Annual Fund at 617-585-0284 to obtain a full print listing of participating companies.
  • Life Income
There are also a variety of ways to make a significant gift to the Boston Architectural College today and receive income during your (or a designee's) lifetime.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is both a gift to the BAC and an annuity for you. When you transfer cash, or securities, to the BAC, you receive a guaranteed income for life. Income is based on your age at the time the gift is made and the amount of the gift. Additional advantages of a gift annuity include partially tax-exempt income and a charitable income tax deduction for a portion of your contribution.
  • Individual Charitable Trusts
An individual trust is an excellent way to make a significant gift to the BAC now, and still retain the use of the income from your capital, stock, or other assets. You also enjoy current tax benefits. Such a trust may be managed by a trustee of your choice.
  • Gifts In Kind
Non-cash gift of services or of tangible property "equipment, works of art, books, etc." are also welcome at the BAC. These "in-kind" contributions must be appraised or evaluated by the donor before they can be accepted by the BAC. For additional information on gifts in kind, please contact the Development Office.
