BAC Summer Academy 2010

Since 1973, the Boston Architectural College has offered high-school students (entering grades 10 or higher) the opportunity to participate in BAC Summer Academy, a design exploration program. With an emphasis on practical hands-on learning, students experience interactive design projects, educational field trips throughout Boston and visits to professional design firms.
From drawing, to model making, to computer-aided design, Summer Academy students study design principles and learn the importance of teamwork in the profession as they collaborate on the design and production of a group project. Throughout the program, students produce a variety of visual and spatial work that can be used to create a portfolio for applying to college programs. At the conclusion of BAC Summer Academy, students have the opportunity to publicly present their work and celebrate their creative accomplishments.
BAC Summer Academy 2010 runs July 6th – 30th, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00AM to 12:30PM. Enrollment is first-come, first-served and is limited. 2010 tuition is $1,625 and includes materials for the program. Financial need based scholarships are available. Diversity-based scholarships are also available through The Robert Houseman and the Richard Kirkham Fund for Diverse High School Students Entering the Design Professions. This gift, in excess of a million dollars, supports an initiative within the BAC Summer Academy to address the deficiencies and disparities in demographic diversity within the design professions.
Please note: BAC Summer Academy does not offer residency or meal plan options at this time. Transportation during program hours is provided, but transportation to and from the BAC is the responsibility of the student.
