The BAC celebrates Modernist design as part of an exciting new show: AD 20/21: Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries.
The Boston Architectural College is pleased to be partnering with Fusco & Four to help bring an exciting new art and design expo to Boston. AD 20/21: Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries, will debut April 3-6, 2008 at the Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama in Boston’s South End. There will be a VIP Reception and Gala Preview Party on opening night – Thursday, April 3rd, and the BAC has been chosen as the beneficiary for all proceeds from this event.
The BAC will also have the opportunity to offer educational programs linked to Modernism and preservation. The 16th Cascieri Lecture will be held on Sunday, April 6th, featuring Christy MacLear, Executive Director of the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Caanan, Connecticut.
AD 20/21: Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries provides a fascinating venue for supporters of the BAC to interact with patrons of the arts in Boston along with a wide range of collectors and design professionals. Art and design are rooted in creativity, and thus, intrinsically connected to the disciplines of architecture, interior design and landscape architecture. By being part of an event such as this one, the BAC seeks to promote and inspire appreciation for the arts in its students, who are the design professionals of tomorrow. It is a prime opportunity to show your support for design education, the preservation movement, and the arts in general. We hope you will join us for this fantastic event!

Featuring 40 - 45 galleries and design exhibitors of the highest quality, the exhibition will include major decorative arts movements such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Scandinavian Design, Mid-Century Modern, and more, side by side with 21st century design, studio furniture, glass and ceramics, as well as a stunning array of paintings, sculpture, prints, and photography from the last 108 years.
Opening Night will feature a VIP Reception and Gala Preview Party with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Boston Architectural College. The BAC is New England's largest independent accredited college of spatial design, founded in 1889. The College’s central location on Newbury Street and strong links with the design community make the BAC a strategic educational center for the discussion of design issues in Boston. The weekend show runs Friday 1-9 pm, Saturday 11 am -8 pm and Sunday 11 am - 5 pm. General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door. The event will feature numerous guest speakers and special programs designed to attract both advanced and beginning collectors.
The 16th Cascieri Lecture will be held on Sunday, April 6th at the Roberts Studio Theatre, adjacent to the Cyclorama. As an educational institution, the BAC is committed to preserving Modernist artifacts and properties and seeks to enhance knowledge in this area to make Modernist preservation more viable. This year’s Cascieri lecturer will be Christy MacLear, Executive Director of the Philip Johnson Glass House in Connecticut, a focal point for the preservation of modern architecture, art and landscape.
AD 20/21 is presented by Fusco & Four/Ventures, LLC. Tony Fusco and Robert Four have been promoting the arts in Boston for 30 years. They are the producers of the highly successful Boston International Fine Art Show (BIFAS), an event that is produced each November at the Boston Center for the Arts. Tony Fusco is the founder of the Art Deco Society of Boston and served as Facilitator for the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies for 7 years. He is the author of five collecting guides on Art Deco and vintage posters.
