After graduating from the BAC, I began my career working for interior designer William Hodgins. In 1997, I started my own Interior Design Business with a friend. In 2000, my future wife was offered a position in London. It was an adventure I couldn't resist, soon after we married in London.
In London, I began working for an interior designer and then was offered a job running an art progressive space on Portobello road. This was still an opportunity to work with designers and sell art and it was a much more interesting job meeting loads of interesting people.
In 2003, an artist in the gallery expanded my vision of design. I taught myself screen printing and started printing on vintage military clothes, in my kitchen. I called the company filthwear from a childhood nickname (don’t ask) and started selling clothes I made through the gallery. My business took off and I met many shop buyers from around the world, and started selling to very high end shops around the globe. Japan, in particular was a great market for me. Later I opened a free standing filth shop within the walls of the gallery.
In 2006, my wife was transferred to Hong Kong where I live now. In a few short years, I have moved my production from my kitchen to a London Gallery and now to China. My years at the BAC in the Interior Design Program helped tremendously with my clothing design business. Think of a concept and follow through!
