John Pilling

John guides his design students as they acquire skills, increase their knowledge, and deepen their understanding. It is a humbling endeavor: there is always more to do, better. His teaching incorporates a desire to know who and what is around the next bend, and many of his studios include travel, sketchbooks, and research. In his own practice, he designs buildings to have a style that suits their client's interests, program that meets their needs, and construction meant to last. Quality architecture reveals itself only after being recognized by 2 or more generations of observers. Therefore, remarks from contemporary critics are taken with a grain of salt. More
