M. Russel Feldman

Russel Feldman is President of TBA Architects, Inc. of West Concord and San Francisco. He has been active at the BAC since 1979.

A member of the Board of Trustees since 2003, he is Chair of the Board, and served as Vice Chair from 2007-2009, and in 2005-06. Russ has also served as an Overseer, and has chaired numerous committees and task forces while on the Board.

Under Russ's leadership as Chair of the Board two years ago, the BAC developed a new Strategic Plan for 2012-2017.

Russ has volunteered as a thesis advisor, thesis panel member, as a studio instructor and design critic in the Architecture and Interior Design Programs. Russ has acted in a variety of volunteer administrative and teaching capacities over the years as Chair of the Student Affairs Committee, the Academic Appeals Committee, as Faculty Chair of the Portfolio Review Committee, and as Chair and an active member of the Thesis Committee. Russ is an Honorary Member of the BAC.

Russ was 2006 President of the Massachusetts AIA and continues to serve on its Board. He chaired the Mass AIA/BSA Legislative Affairs Committee until 2007 and he remains active on that committee. He is the BSA's delegate to the Massachusetts Construction Industries Council, is a member of the AIA's State Government Network and had the privilege of serving on the Massachusetts Special Commission on Construction Reform, which rewrote the public construction laws for the Commonwealth. He remains on a state task force on the implementation of the new construction reform statutes. Russ holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and this training has enabled him to contribute to a variety of legal innovations for the state. For example, he is the policy author of the statutes authorizing the use of construction management at risk for public construction and District Improvement Financing.

Russ is an active preservationist and is a recipient of the Massachusetts Historic Commission's Preservation Award. He is a Trustee of the Newton History Museum and serves on its Executive Committee.

Russ is a registered architect in several states and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
