Roger Washburn

Roger's teaching approach is firmly rooted in the study of creating spatial rooms using a landscape designers primary tools: topography, built elements, and living material.  Whether teaching design or site engineering, Rogers students are asked to engage topographic forms through model building and drawings excercises, building comfort with this aspect of design.

Roger received an MLA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; BA and a bachelors in environmental design from University of Washington.  Roger is a licenesed landscape architect, owner and principal designer of Roger Washburn Landscape Architecture, Somerville, Massachusetts.  Former positions include landscape architect, The Architects Collaborative, Cambridge, Massachusetts; adjunct faculty, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Roger has received recognition for his professional design work from the Boston Society of Landscape Architects.
