Perkins + Will

As a progressive thinker with over ten years of experience, Kamala is part of the firmwide leadership that is advancing sustainable design within Perkins+Will. She is working towards developing best practices that are informed from different rating systems including, LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND), Living Building, One Planet Living and Clinton Climate Initiative. Her work has included transit-oriented developments, base reuse, urban infill and mixed-use developments at a local, national and international scale. Working with cities, developers, communities and through public-private-partnerships, she has successfully raised the issues of sustainability and the application of LEED-ND to her projects. Two of her most recent and significant projects include the acclaimed, AIA National Award winning, Clinton Climate Initiative Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island Project, which is tracking for LEED-ND Gold and the AIA CC award winning LEED-Gold Stage-1 Project, Station Park Green which was also part of LEED-ND Pilot Focus group.
Kamala serves on SPUR'S Sustainable Design Committee and USGBC Northern California Chapter's Sustainable Neighborhoods Committee. She recently won a grant to focus on the application of the HDMT & LEED-ND, allowing her to advance thinking on interplay of health and sustainability. She brings a global perspective to sustainability and social responsibility having lived and worked in Asia, Middle East, Europe and the United States.
