Jessica King is a Master of Architecture candidate at the BAC. She grew up in Saratoga, NY and completed an undergraduate degree in English and Psychology from the University of Rochester in 2010, which she calls one of her greatest accomplishments.
Jessica landed in design school by realizing how much poor design is present in the world. "I realized I wanted to be an architect when I drove past a very ugly building and thought to myself ‘I could have done a better job' and then realized that I could, in fact, do a better job if I had the right training." She draws on her love of the outdoors and experiences in the Adirondacks to influence her designs, using natural light and mimicking nature in much of her work.
Final reviews are her favorite part of design school. "I may be the only one, but I love final reviews," says Jessica, "I love working incredibly hard to finish a project and then have critics continue to push my designs forward and give me more to think about. It's awesome." She also lists surviving B-2 Studio as a major accomplishment solely because of the amount of work put into the semester.
