Cui Ren is a Bachelor of Architecture student at the BAC. He grew up in China, moving to Brooklyn during his eighth grade year and later on moving to Chesapeake, VA to finish high school. Cui then studied Social Science at Tidewater Community College.

I.M. Pei's work inspired Cui to consider architecture. "I was surprised how such geometric shapes can be well integrated into space for people to live and work," comments Cui. Participating in a high school competition that addressed affordable housing was the beginning of his education in architecture.

At the BAC, Cui says his Gateway project with Grove Hall has had a lot of impact on his education. For him, it was the first project that balanced needs of the client with the needs of the community, both in economics and sustainability. During the project he had the opportunity to receive input from residents and organization leaders that would benefit and be impacted by the design.

Cui served as Vice President for AIAS from 2013-2014. He is collaborating with a construction company to design a residence in Queens, NY. He is also a member of NOMAS, ASLA, and the BSA.
