As the Chief Marketing Officer for Boston-based Walsh Brothers, Inc., Cathy Edgerly is responsible for strategic planning and execution of the marketing and business development activities of the firm. She is also involved in preconstruction planning and programming with certain key institutional clients. Throughout her career Cathy Edgerly has assisted professionals in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and construction management firms to improve their marketing and business development practices, both as an internal director and as a consultant.

Cathy was Director of Development at Shawmut Design and Construction where her work focused on academic and cultural institutions. She was a Senior Vice President of Ellerbe Becket, managing the national marketing efforts at a time when the firm was the largest architectural firm in the country. She has also directed the business development efforts of firms such as Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Bobrow Thomas & Associates and Payette Associates. She was the first Public Information Officer of the City of Santa Monica.

As a consultant, Cathy has helped professionals from over fifty plus professional service firms to build their marketing strengths to find and win seminal projects, helping them to grow their practices and solve problems in areas such as strategic planning, team building, marketing organization and market research and identity studies. On the client side, she has worked with institutions such as the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles to select and retain design professionals.

Cathy speaks extensively on marketing issues and regularly presents seminars and workshops at regional and national AIA and SMPS conventions. For four years she instructed "The Anatomy of a Healthy Design and Construction Project" at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design summer program, as well as a class on the "Identity of Your Firm." Cathy has been the plenary speaker for the Society for College and University Planners (SCUP), as well as session presenter for SCUP, and the International Facility Managers Association, (IFMA). She has been a keynote speaker for Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and conducted numerous workshops as well.

Cathy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA. She has been an active volunteer with Wellspring House in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She served on the Board of Directors for the Animas Valley Institute, and was the founding President for SMPS Los Angeles chapter.
