A sampling of watercolors created by Richard Griswold, Associate Provost and Dean of Students, while he was a Fellow in Architecture at the MacDowell Colony. In addition to engaging in research tied to his undergraduate Design Principles course, he devoted some time each day to creating these works. They are basically drawings in paint, the brush strokes accumulate to investigate pattern, movement space -- and color. The works are displayed in a sequence tracing the iterative process by which they were conceived. Alongside this work, Rich documented his process in a designated sketchbook which has been part of The Sketchbook Project 2011, which is currently on a five city tour.
