The BAC's Advanced Studio is an interdisciplinary Landscape Architecture and Architecture studio with a focus in urban sustainability. The Advanced Studio is participating in the New York City based project, Broadway: 1,000 Steps. Colleges and Universities also participating in the Broadway: 1000 Steps project are CCNY, Marymount, MIT, Penn Sate, Parsons, Pratt, and the University of Virginia.
Broadway: 1000 Steps is a collaborative initiative to establish Broadway as the new "green corridor" of New York City. The project presents an opportunity for BAC students to collaborate with other disciplines, design schools, artists, research scientists, municipal policy makers, and local community groups. This opportunity allows students to engage in a shared and creative process.
The studio is offered through both the School of Architecture and the School of Landscape Architecture and taught by Maria Bellalta, Head, School of Landscape Architecture, and Blas Betancourt, BAC architecture alumnus and designer in professional practice in Boston.
