IN HONOR OF A GENEROUS EDUCATOR AND TALENTED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT,

V. MICHAEL WEINMAYR

V. Michael Weinmayr, age 74, of Somerville and Lexington, died on December 17, 2012 after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the principal of Weinmayr Associates Landscape Architects, was honored as a Fellow of the ASLA, recognized for his work in public housing and with the BRA, Michael was a co-author of "Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr: Founder of Landscape Architecture in America". He enjoyed working with his hands, especially rebuilding bicycles and old cars. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Michael Olmsted, daughter Annie Clark, grandson Timothy, and sisters Marie Howell and Fran Zaloski. The family will have a small private memorial gathering. The Fall 2013 Landscape Institute event will celebrate Michael Weinmayr and his contributions.

JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES 

Horticulturalist- Massachusetts Horticultural Society, full-time horticulturalist.

Candidate must be able to perform a full range of grounds, horticulture, greenhouse, and landscape maintenance duties, including all aspects of turf maintenance, flower, tree and shrub planting and maintenance, pruning, and leaf and snow removal. Candidate responsible for communicating with the public, volunteers, and staff and demonstrating and teaching students' grounds maintenance skills. Weekend and holiday work may be required.
