Through a distance/ low-residency program that includes brief periods of intensive study in Boston, the BAC's online Master of Design Studies in Historic Preservation prepares you for a rewarding role in the historic preservation field. In study with leading scholars and practitioners from the field combined with shared learning in a cohort of committed colleagues, you will gain the expertise and leadership skills required to celebrate and preserve the buildings and cultural landscapes of our history.
The Master of Design Studies in Historic Preservation may be completed in four semesters. The program allows some flexibility in scheduling online electives. A capstone project is included in the degree, connecting theory and practice through mentored research and design. Students with a design background may choose a building, landscape or interior project. Others may focus on a research, policy, or business interest. The result is an educational experience that establishes a foundation of knowledge for launching a career in historic preservation.
The BAC is a member of the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE). The MDS in Historic Preservation meets the standards for degree granting programs established by NCPE.
