Students specializing in Historic Preservation develop a deep understanding of research and documentation of historic sites; preservation practice; preservation finance, law and planning; restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of historic sites; and preservation public policy. Historic preservation majors may further specialize in Historic Site Management, Traditional Building and Material Conservation, or Historic Property Survey Research and Documentation, or they may follow a more general study of historic preservation.
