Distance Degrees

Low-residency online degree programs at the Boston Architectural College (BAC) provide an opportunity to pursue your master's degree in architecture or design studies while working full time. Whether you're an aspiring designer or a practicing architect, our fully accredited distance degree programs enable you to balance life and work as you pursue your professional design education. The virtual classroom has the same rigor and richness of our traditional classrooms, yet it offers you anytime, anywhere access to all your courses. Online learning is your opportunity to truly immerse yourself in a learning community, mentored by practicing professionals.

Distance degree programs at the BAC are unique in two key ways. First, professional practice is embedded in the curriculum, so your employment is integral to your learning experience—you can continue to earn money and advance your career while working toward your degree. Second, while the majority of coursework is completed online, the programs include a series of 8-day residencies at the BAC's Newbury Street campus, located on a famous street in a world-class city. During these high-energy intensive weeks, students work with expert instructors and fellow classmates in small learning groups. The result is a learning experience that is part hands-on workshop, part discussion seminar, and part design studio, immersed in the buildings and landscape of Boston.

What Our Students Think

"The classes were significantly more demanding and rigorous than I had anticipated for online education, and I found that there was a very positive, stimulating aspect to the wide diversity of student backgrounds that an electronic/digital/virtual classroom is able to command and accommodate."
—Elizabeth Russini, architect
