BAC Summer Academy 2008
July 7th - August 1st
Monday - Friday; 9:00am - 12:30pm
Please note:
Since 1973, the Boston Architectural College has offered high-school students entering grade 10 or higher an opportunity to explore a career in design. All students in the BAC Summer Academy receive an introduction to architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and media and computing.
Throughout the program, the emphasis is on practical, hands-on learning. From drawing, to computer-aided design, Summer Academy students study the basics and begin to understand the importance of teamwork in the profession as they collaborate on the design and production of a group project.
All students participating in the program take part in educational field trips to local design firms and benefit from guest speakers that are practicing professionals. As the program progresses, students continue to produce work that can be used for portfolios when applying to college programs. During the last week of the program, students have the opportunity to present their work to family members and friends.
Summer Academy 2008 runs Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 12:30PM. Enrollment is first-come, first-served and is limited. Tuition for 2008 is $1480 and includes materials for the program. A limited number of financial need based scholarships are available. Additional scholarships are available through The Robert Houseman and the Richard Kirkham Fund for Diverse High School Students Entering the Design Professions. This gift, in excess of a million dollars, will be used to support an initiative within the BAC Summer Academy that is designed to address the deficiencies and disparities in demographic diversity within the design professions. The deadline to apply for BAC Summer Academy 2008 scholarships is April 4th.
